"Dog Show" is a reportage that I really care about. Not only because I love dogs, but also because when I was a teenager I was an assiduous frequenter of this world. Every time I set foot in a dog show, it's like being in a parallel dimension, in a world apart. An array of humanity that meets every weekend in places more or less known to participate in the exhibition round with your four-legged friends. As in the best of human beauty contests, where beauty means a single common standard accepted by society, so it is for dogs, where beauty is represented by the dictates of the breed standard. We see dogs of all breeds, owners who make beautiful their dogs for the show, waiting for the judgment of the judge.
